Camryn Brewer is a storyteller based in Los Angeles, CA
I hold a special place in my heart for the written novel, ink words on paper that catapult me into worlds at the cusp of imagination. Yet, that love has become a stepping point for an appreciation of a plethora of other art forms—photography, film, creative strategy, and digital media—because of their ability to tell a story. Everything that we produce in the spirit of creativity is saturated in narrative quality. While I am new to many of these disciplines, I believe my production in these areas must at least start with a reverence for other works which is why I love my major at USC so much. I am building an arsenal of knowledge by studying these art forms and gaining the rhetoric to talk about them while simultaneously dipping into them through my own work. I love going to museums—my favorites being the High Museum of Art, The Smithsonian, The MET, and the Momentary. Here are some of my other favorite things:
good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Beloved by Toni Morrison
“Beauty: When the Other Dancer is the Self” by Alice Walker
"For Black cooks, spaghetti represents connection and ingenuity" by Nneka M. Okona
Idyllic Space by Tyler Mitchell
